Service Groups
Kaikorai Valley College believes in educating the whole person. The College provides many opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and be involved in service activities.
SVA Service Award Programme
We aim for our students to be well rounded successful human beings who contribute to the society in which they live. Students are encouraged to serve others both in the school and the community. The social connections from helping others is good for emotional well-being.
The College is registered with the Student Volunteer Army service programme.
“The SVA is a movement committed to advancing volunteering in all the many ways that it happens. We believe in the power of volunteers and created this program as a way to better recognise volunteers in Aotearoa”
Students log their service hours online and earn the following awards. Their service record can be included in their CV - Curriculum Vitae.
SADD Students Against Dangerous Driving
Senior Students are invited to join the college’s SADD group. This group promotes safe driving practices using regular activities at lunchtime, displays and social media posts.
SADD group members attend meetings with students from other Dunedin Secondary schools and the annual New Zealand SADD conference.
